What is search engine optimization (SEO)?
For most, SEO is all about rankings, such as having your site place
#1 in Google. It's nice, but no one can guarantee this and as the
Internet grows, the competition becomes brutal and the chances of
achieving a top rank and holding it gets harder and requires constant
work to stay in place.
Actually, we do complete "website optimization" (see our
tutorial) as we are trying for
more than just search engine placement. We do use every ethical search engine optimization tool we can to make your
website appear as high in the appropriate search engine keyword rankings as
possible.
There are no secrets, there are no short-cuts or magical tricks
in the search engine optimization field - just solid hard work. Each
and every important page must be written in such a way as to be search
engine friendly and provide your potential clients with valuable
information, presented in a way that persuades them to contact you.
A combination of keywords,
incoming links, page copy, html coding, pictures, tags, titles -
literally everything must coincide with valuable content to make it all
work. When all of this is done correctly, you can usually count on high
rankings, but even then, the search engines change the rules daily, so the process
never stops.
Having your site optimized
for search engines may well result in high ranking, but still may not give
you the "home-run" that you want. For this, we need to step outside the
box a bit. Even highly ranked sites can get dramatic increases in traffic
and sales conversions with site promotion tied to the search
engine optimization program. More on web

Is search engine optimization the last
word?
Not hardly,
don't concentrate on a single tree and forget about the forest.
While optimizing a page for search engine placement - make sure it
is full of content, visually pleasing and navigates easily. First
impressions count. Do a customer poll - what do they look for? You very
seldom go wrong giving the customer what they want.
Does this stuff actually work?
Whew - it sure does and it works in spades. Mainly because most corporate
web sites are so poorly organized - this leaves a big hole for a savvy
company like us to drive a truck through. It doesn't matter how big you
are or how long your company has been around, or how big your brand is,
on the Internet, a start-up company can beat your brains out and grab a
significant portion of your market share just by placing a better web site
in front of yours.
