Our primer on websites...
If you are one of the many people overwhelmed by how all of this works, we'll simplify it a bit. This page is mainly all about videos on your website.

As the use of broadband has grown, more and more Internet surfers can view videos fairly well online. Not all viewers have super-fast Internet access and as none of us like to wait, we recommend you make your videos short and sweet. We think a two minute video is long....

You don't need a major Hollywood-high Res-HD production here. There are very nice video cameras out there that are very affordable, or you can hire a  videographer (get one from the wedding photographer list, book him any day but Saturday and you should get a deal!).

Here again, think about this from your potential client's point of view - what would most likely entice them into buying from you? Remember, it's all about what they want - not what you want.

Tips and info about products and services can be extremely effective - in the landscape business? Show some popular local plants, maybe a tip on how to plant or fertilize them. Instead of telling everybody what a wonderful guy you are, just give them some tips and what to do and how to do it - they just might appreciate that even more than some self-aggrandizing propaganda. Again, it's not about you - it's about your customers: they have their own perspective.

Actually uploading videos and installing them on your website is not a big deal cost-wise. You may use more bandwidth, so make sure your hosting plan will allow for it: for average sites, a video shouldn't be much cost over and above the hosting you have now, $2 a month would be a lot to pay extra for the extra  video bandwidth. If you are going nuts on your bandwidth because of a video, chances are the old cash register is ringing a lot more as well, so who worries about an extra buck or two a month?

I have consistently found that website visitors who view a video convert into sales at a much higher percentage. If your average sale is, say, $700 and it costs you that much for a video...how many extra sales will it take to get a good return for this investment?

No! You don't need a major Hollywood studio production!
